Introduction to Interactive Notebooks (iNotebooks)

8/25/2012

Picture
Students will create Interactive Notebooks (iNotebooks) for each subject area.  Single-subject spiral notebooks are best, and a separate notebooks are needed for Language Arts and Social Studies.

In class, we will number each page of the notebooks; students will take notes and complete activities in class using only the even numbered pages.  On the odd numbered pages, students will be responsible for showing evidence of their learning.  iNotebooks will be collected and graded periodically.  Neatness matters and students should exhibit pride in their work.

Odd Numbered Pages (Output)

These are the Student-led pages.  You will brainstorm, draw Thinking Maps on your own, answer questions, describe characters or historical figures, create "posters" or "diagrams," draw cartoons to help you remember concepts, and more.

Even Numbered Pages (Input)

These are the Teacher-led pages.  You will take notes, complete in-class activities, define vocabulary, and more.

How iNotebooks Will Be Graded:

iNotebooks will be collected every two weeks and graded using the following rubric (grading sheet).  Feel free to download the iNotebook Rubric so you can see how you will be graded.  The file is in PDF format.
